Some leaders stand out for their creativity. Others for their execution. But every great chapter needs someone with discipline, insight, and the ability to turn vision into viable action. That’s why the Atlanta University Center chapter of the National Collegiate Entertainers Group (NCEG) is proud to announce Sloane Quartey as its newly appointed Treasurer.
Originally applying for the role of Head of Events, Sloane’s pitch and interview revealed something more — a powerful combination of advocacy, fundraising experience, and financial insight that made her the right fit for executive leadership.
From Organizer to Operator
“I don’t just talk about advocacy, I build it into the structure, curation, and execution of ideas across different scales,” Sloane wrote in her pitch. And that’s exactly what she’s bringing to the table as Treasurer.
A second-year student at Spelman College, Sloane is studying English with a minor in Political Science and Independent Studies on the pre-law track. But her true focus is the intersection of entertainment, advocacy, and leadership.
“I want to be on multiple ends of the industry — whether it's management, law, or planning events,” she shared during her interview.
A Record of Real Results
Sloane's experience with budget-conscious events and funding strategies speaks for itself:
Helped organize Spelman’s Women in Hip Hop Collective open mic night, ensuring visibility and structure for emerging artists
Played a critical role in It’s On the House, a service initiative for Atlanta’s unhoused communities
Raised funds for large-scale cultural events through her work with the AUC African Student Association
Pitched NBCUniversal on behalf of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, resulting in a $10 million donation
This isn’t hypothetical leadership. Sloane knows how to move dollars — and make every one count.
What a Treasurer Really Does
At NCEG, the Treasurer isn’t just managing numbers — they’re managing the financial engine of the entire chapter. According to the NCEG Chapter Manual, this role includes:
Overseeing budgeting for events and operations
Coordinating fundraising strategies
Managing sponsorships and reporting
Ensuring the financial health and transparency of the chapter
It was during her interview that Sloane’s natural fit for the position became clear:
“I've learned what works and what doesn't. Sometimes you need that person to say, ‘Let’s pivot.’ Because those moments of honesty can turn failure into fuel,” she explained.
A Heart for Advocacy, A Mind for Structure
Beyond numbers, Sloane brings a deep sense of purpose to her role. She sees budgeting not just as balance sheets, but as a tool for empowerment:
“Music is culture, access, and opportunity,” she wrote. “And I believe who gets seen, heard, and funded matters.”
