The Atlanta University Center chapter of the National Collegiate Entertainers Group (NCEG) just locked in a powerful new voice behind the boards. We’re proud to announce Catlin “CLE” Edwards Jr. as the official Head of Audio for the AUC chapter, representing Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morris Brown College.
The Sound of Leadership
CLE isn’t just turning knobs — he’s setting the tone.
“Audio is more than just volume levels and equipment to me — it’s the foundation of every great performance, recording, and event,” CLE shared in his application. “Whether it’s live sound, studio sessions, or content production, I understand how critical quality audio is to an organization that represents student creatives and future industry professionals.”
This appointment recognizes CLE’s rare combination of technical expertise, leadership potential, and passion for helping artists sound their best. He brings hands-on experience in music production, sound design, mixing, and live audio engineering — skills he’s ready to pour back into the community.
What a Head of Audio Does
At NCEG, the Head of Audio is more than an engineer — they’re the backbone of every performance, rehearsal, and production.
According to the NCEG Chapter Manual, this role includes:
Managing equipment, systems, and technical resources
Running audio for all chapter events
Training the next generation of producers and engineers
Ensuring that every beat, every mic, and every moment sounds elite
CLE is already dialed in.
“I’m comfortable troubleshooting under pressure, adapting quickly during events, and making sure artists feel confident in how they sound,” he said. “My goal is to leave the audio department stronger than I found it.”
Goals for 2026 and Beyond
CLE laid out a crystal-clear vision for the AUC audio department:
Raise the bar on sound quality at all performances and events
Train and mentor students passionate about engineering and production
Collaborate across departments — especially Events, Media, and A&R
Build a legacy of professionalism and technical excellence
“I want to train members, share knowledge, and create systems that allow everyone to grow,” he explained. “NCEG’s mission to empower students and provide real industry experience is something I truly believe in.”
Invest in the Infrastructure of Student Sound
NCEG is building the next generation of music industry leaders — not just the ones on stage, but the ones behind the scenes. The engineers. The producers. The innovators.
